Founders Dinner
honoring the 24th annual International Pinot Noir Celebration

Imagine, for a moment, a world without Pacific Northwest cuisine, spirits or wine...

That is what our region looked like when our guests set out to change the world. Take part in an intimate evening of dining with three of the visionaries who helped make Portland and Oregon the food and drink destinations they are today.

Greg Higgins
Greg founded Higgins Restaurant and Bar in 1994 after spending more than a decade defining the cuisine of the Pacific Northwest. He led the way in the movement to bring locally grown, seasonal, organic and sustainable food to the table. Today, he remains the leading figure in Portland’s brilliant restaurant scene.

Steve McCarthy
Steve traveled to Europe in the early 1980’s to learn the traditional way of making eau de vie and then combined them with fruit from his family’s pear orchard. His artisan distillery, Clear Creek, reflects the best of the natural and agricultural resources of its region, the Pacific Northwest, and his eau de vie of pear is sold world-wide.

David Adelsheim
David began planting his original 15-acre vineyard in 1972 in the Chehalem Mountains. He is recognized for his outstanding service to the industry and has played a vital role in building the Oregon wine industry and establishing its reputation worldwide.

July 23 - 25, 2010
McMinnville, Oregon

We are thrilled to announced that Adelsheim will be a Featured Winery at the 2010 International Pinot noir Celebration. This annual event, held in McMinnville, Oregon, has earned worldwide recogition for its stimulating seminars, extraordinary tastings, outstanding cuisine, and a unique combination of elegance and leisure.

Ray Isle, Wine Editor for Food & Wine Magazine and regular contributor to CBS News’s The Early Show, is the 2010 IPNC Master of Ceremonies. He will preside over this year’s highly anticipated food and Pinot pairing seminar, leading guests and winemaker panelists through a tasting and discussion of four Pinots from various corners of the world.

In the second session, Master Sommelier and Perfect Pairings author Evan Goldstein will be joined on stage by Northwest chefs Renée Erickson of Seattle’s Boat Street Café, Kevin Gibson of Portland’s EVoE, Jason Stoller Smith of The Dundee Bistro, and Cathy Whims of Portland’s Nostrana. Each chef will create and discuss a pairing for one the four Pinots using a different cut of lamb! Guests will have the rare opportunity to hear from both winemakers and chefs about the topic of food and wine as side-by-side partners on the table.

¡Salud! Benefit Weekend
¡Salud! is a unique collaboration between Oregon winemakers and healthcare professionals to provide access to healthcare services for Oregon’s seasonal vineyard workers and their families.

¡Salud! was created by a group of Oregon winery owners and Tuality Healthcare physicians to address the hurdles faced by seasonal workers who cannot meet their basic health needs with only a few months’ income to stretch over a full year. The vast majority of field workers move from one crop to another. Their temporary status with each employer makes them ineligible for health coverage. Without insurance, these men and women and their families often do not seek professional healthcare until their problems become acute. Their knowledge of basic health education is limited and they are overwhelmed by the maze of complex and confusing resources available in the medical system. The mission of ¡Salud! is to bridge this gap.

Join us the weekend of August 7th & 8th when a percentage of bottle sales from the tasting room will be donated to ¡Salud! to support the mission to provide access to healthcare services for Oregon‘s seasonal vineyard workers and their families.
