The Adelsheim Exploration Tasting is a nod to the curious spirit upon which Adelsheim Vineyard was founded over 53 years ago! Since the very beginning, and as one of the founding families of the Oregon wine industry, we remain driven by the pursuit of world-class winemaking here in this {still} undiscovered wine region that we call home: The Chehalem Mountains.
This flight celebrates our legacy through a guided tasting showcasing the Chehalem Mountains AVA, which includes 173 acres of prime vineyard plantings.

Enjoy a curated, 1.5-hour wine experience. Our Estate Reserve Tasting is an elevated exploration of Adelsheim’s winemaking ethos, thoughtfully guided through a selection of Sparkling wine, Chardonnay, and Single Vineyard Pinot noirs.
Your Wine Educator will dive deeper into the nuances of place and what impact the terroir, soils, elevations and microclimate plays in the bottle.

A CLOSER LOOK:
With an array of vineyard plantings at diverse elevations and a storied legacy over a half century in the making, this is an opportunity to savor limited, small production wines. This creative flight is aptly named to reflect fascinating factors that impact winegrowing. Your tasting may include an examination of:
SITE | Consider location and elevation of a vineyard. A vintage comparison or vertical could be included.
SOIL | Consider the diverse soil compositions such as volcanic, marine sedimentary, and loess. While our home is the Chehalem Mountains AVA in the larger Willamette Valley, that also includes the nested AVAs of Laurelwood District and Ribbon Ridge.
VINTAGE | Consider the age of the wine, whether it’s a library wine or a wine with a few years of age.

CHEHALEM MOUNTAINS ESTATES TASTING HIKE

Offered Sunday mornings beginning May 3, this guided two-mile hike offers a refreshing way to experience the Chehalem Mountains—inviting guests to move through the vineyard before settling into two seated tastings.
The journey begins at Adelsheim and winds through estate vines to neighboring Cooper Mountain, where the story continues. Along the way, guides share a seasonal look at vineyard life, with moments to pause, reset, and take in the landscape.

Guests are invited to engage their senses along the way, with fresh fruit and ingredients sourced from the land itself, including berries from the trail and Jack’s Garden.
Midway through the hike, we’ll visit our neighbor, Cooper Mountain, for a tasting that offers both a shift in perspective and a deeper look at a neighboring producer’s approach—underscoring a shared commitment to collaboration within the Willamette Valley.
The return to Adelsheim brings the experience full circle, with a seated tasting designed to connect what guests have seen, walked, and tasted throughout the afternoon.

The tour concludes in our tasting room where you’re welcome to settle in and order small plates and charcuterie a la carte.
To make the most of your experience, we kindly request: Arrive 15 minutes before your reservation. Wear appropriate closed-toe footwear that will provide stability on uneven surfaces and stairs. Guests must be at least 21 years old. Pets are not allowed on this experience.

Only available seasonally, we invite you to taste through some of Adelsheim’s most celebrated and limited-production wines — just steps from where they are crafted. Venture deep into our Chardonnay barrel cave for an intimate, casual, and educational wine tasting experience inspired by our home here in the Chehalem Mountains.
The ambiance in the cave is unmatched, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the rhythm of the winery and a deeper connection to the place, the process, and the people who bring each wine to life.
